Heart Surgeries for Palestinian Children
Project Type: Core
Duration of Support: Assistance in covering the expenses of 6 operations during 2007-2008
The goal of "Heart for Peace"is to allow at least 50 Palestinian children per year, who suffer from fatal congenital cardiopathy, to undergo heart surgery at Hadassah Hospital free of charge. This condition requires advanced heart surgery which is performed in the cardiological surgery department of Hadassah Hospital.
Children participating in the program are cared for by Israeli and Palestinian doctors.
For over two years, the Pediatric Cardiology and Surgery Departments of the Israeli hospital have performed more than 100 heart surgeries for Palestinian children whose lives would not have been saved otherwise.
